Traveling all the time allows you to have multiple birthday dinners on different continents. This evening a friend took me out for my birthday dinner Australian style. The oysters were fresh and very delicious, the fried cheese was some of the best I have had, the pasta just right and the Barramundi top shelf. We finished it off with some lemon infused liquor and pecan biscotti. While the meal was marvelous it is the company that made the evening. Another must go to if you are in Melbourne.

Gosh this is a great place. It has all the elements. Warm homely space, great atmosphere, terrific food, great wines and excellent staff. It's the latter is like to comment on here. The people who served us here last - particularly the two guys with beards - are just so good at their jobs. They picked our mood so well with everything - wine choice and dishes even the occasional banter - that we just had the best night. Serious professionals. I've been coming here for years and will absolutely keep doing so. It's now a Melbourne classic.
(Previous review). This is a very very good place in my experience. Been here for a drink many times, and several times for a meal.
The food has always been wonderful. Not cheap, but the quality and flavour is always very evident. It is just one of those solidly reliable places that never fails to deliver.
I really like this place too as a place to have a quiet wine every now and again. Went for one one tonight and the lovely New Zealand waitress I've seen many times before just giggled quietly when I said I might not have a second wine with my companion. I think it was the best way ever to be reminded that I was kidding myself, so of course I ordered another dry riesling.
I'm impressed with all the staff here. They informed, efficient, bright, friendly and brisk. And, many of them have been here for many years.

What an awesome place. I felt like I was back in Italy. Great atmosphere and service. I had the seafood linguine. ...delicious. Finished with the chocolate dessert which oozed when you opened it....yumminess on a plate. Can't wait to go back.

Got in without a booking. Great gamberini & fusilli with nice valpolicella. Yum bruschetta & polpetta manzo. Always very warm, friendly & efficient service.
